I already made a Top 10 starting pitchers, so now here is the Top 10 relievers. There are a lot of Padres on here because I am a Padres fan.

10. Troy Percival
Troy Percival played 14 seasons and was an all-star 4 times. He is 8th in saves with 358. He also has a world series ring. There isn't much to say about him, he was just a great pitcher.

9. Hoyt Wilhelm
Hoyt Wilhelm played 21 seasons with 9 teams and was an all-star 5 times. In his rookie year he had a win/loss percentage of .833. He was 2nd in voting for rookie of the year and has a lifetime ERA is 2.52

8. Lee Smith
Lee Smith pitched 18 seasons and was an all-star 7 times. He is currently 3rd in saves(478) and in games finished(802), but he was the leader for 13 years. He has 8.7 strikeouts per 9 innings.

7. Bruce Sutter
Bruce Sutter only pitched 12 seasons and was an all-star 6 of those seasons. He had one Cy Young season where he recorded 37 saves and 110 strikeouts in 101.1 innings pitched. Sutter finished with 300 saves.

6. Goose Gossage
Rich "Goose" Gossage played 22 seasons and was an all-star 9 times. Gossage won 124 games and lost 107. He is 8th in games finished with 681 and has 310 saves. He never won a Cy Young, but was in the top 5 four times. His strikeout per 9 innings was 7.5.

4. Billy Wagner

3. Dennis Eckersley
Dennis Eckersley played 24 seasons as both a starter and a closer. He was an all-star 6 times and won a Cy Young award. He even won the MVP in 1992. His lifetime record was 197-171. Eckersley retired with 390 saves.

2. Trevor Hoffman
Trevor Hoffman may not be considered on of the greatest closers of all-time to most, but he accomplished quite a bit. He played 18 seasons and was an all-star 7 times. He was the first pitcher ever to get 500 and 600 saves. He was the all-time leader in saves and games finished for 5 seasons until they were broken by Mariano Rivera. Hoffman finished with 856 games finished and 601 saves. He won the Rolaids Relief pitcher of the year twice. He also has the 5th highest strikeout per 9 innings(and they highest for a reliever).

1. Mariano Rivera
Many people consider Mariano Rivera to be the best relief pitcher of all-time. Here is why: He has played 17 seasons so far and has been an all-star 12 times. He won the Rolaids Relief pitcher of the year 5 times. Rivera is also the all-time leader in ERA+, games finished and saves. He currently has 603 saves.
